Belgium’s major travel agencies develop historic trip to Lima and Cusco

In order for Peru to become a great tourist destination for the visitor from Belgium, representatives of the 14 main travel agencies of that country visit our country within the framework of the EDUCTOUR – FAMTRIP and today they go to the city of Cusco.

Rosario Pajuelo Escobar, director of the Commercial and Tourism Office of Peru in Belgium, said that this first trip is made thanks to the efforts of the private sector, especially the tour operator BTTOURS and Air Europa Belgium.

“The objective of the trip is to provide maximum information about the destination of Peru and the products and services related to its promotion, that is, the cultural richness of Cusco and Lima as a modern and gastronomic city,” he explained.

The Belgian delegation will visit the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, the main tourist attraction icon for European visitors, as well as the Sacsayhuaman fortress, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, among other tourist attractions offered by the imperial city.

Then they will return to our capital city and taste the main dishes and meals of our country.

According to official figures, in 2016, 16,687 tourists from Belgium arrived in our country.

However, Pajuelo Escobar said that figure will definitely be exceeded and proof of this, said that the percentage of issuing tickets or tickets from Belgium to Peru has increased by seven percent in the first 10 months of this year compared of the same period of 2017.

He added that this figure is also due to the large participation of Peru in different fairs in Belgium and Luxembourg.
